Most guns feels responsive and shooting is satisfying, expecially shotgun. I even say, that this game shotgun is more fun than DOOM 3 one. It's clearly not Unity garbadge, like most of the games of same price. But sure it's has flaws. Level desing is terrible, boring, and some level parts are just a bad decision I hate the ghost on platform part, it's just incomprehensible But I think that this game, with better levels, like DOOM2016 arenas and less ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥t long corridors could be a really good small indi shooter. Despice it's flaws, for that price you can have about an hour of fun shooting with good gore elements. I just can't not reccomend this game, again, thanks to it's price. And I want to appriciate that it's not a lazy asset flip. This game has promise. However, it should still be in early access IMHO as it is unpolished. That said how polished can a fully fledged FPS be when it's only 5 bucks? It has guns, gore, survival and horror. The developer should be proud as it seems to be a one man band. Well done Oleg.I will go back and play some more.. Putrefaction is a first person shooter game. It's not too bad; somewhat reminiscent of a 1990s game of Doom. It's not fantastic, but it's quite ok to play. You are deep in a laboratory facility, with the intent of investigating the outbreak of a disease, but you end up fighting off hordes of horrible mutants instead (my initial investigation of the facility lasted about a minute, the rest of the time was spent being attacked by mutants, or walking around being scared of being attacked by mutants). As someone who doesn't like horror movies (and therefore never watches horror movies), I think that this game had a bigger impact upon me than it would upon someone who loves horror films and is therefore inured to the genre (of course, it could be that someone who loves horror movies has something a bit psychologically wrong with them in the first place). The ambience of Putrefaction is quite good; the confined darkened corridors, the spooky music, and the monsters all add up to a "perfect storm" of heart-pumping action (although, bear in mind that it looks like a 1990s-style game).I must admit that, when I was attacked for the first time by one of the second type of mutants, who was skittering along the ground towards me (and therefore I didn't see him straight away, until he was almost in my face), his initial attack elicited an involuntary "F**k me!" from my lips (this is coming from someone who doesn't like to swear, and who tries to avoid doing so). Each time I walked through a doorway into a new area of the underground complex and a "Game saved" message appeared upon the screen, I though "Oh no!", because I knew I was going to be attacked by yet another horde of mutants. My only real gripes about the game were:1) It doesn't tell you what the controls are; you have to figure them out for yourself. However, they are the standard FPS WASD type of controls, so it should only take an experienced gamer a few seconds to work them out.2) You can't change the controls.3) You can't save the game. However, it does auto-save when you enter into new areas. As an aside, I thought that the music was very well done, and possibly outshined all of the other elements of the game. It's only $5 on Steam, so it's not a bad price (and if you buy it when it's on special, then even better). It might not exactly be my cup of tea, but it is well-made (albeit, 1990s style). If you like horror games or fighting mutants, then this game would be worth getting.. I've been playing video games for over 40 years. This game takes me back to '97, '98 '99 when I was downloading and buying CD's of ever player made level I could get for Doom, Doom 2, Quake ect ect.If your old school and played the old Doom games, especially player made downloads, you will enjoy this game. This game is a good romp.. It's a game for 50 cents and people are acting like it needs to meet professional FPS guidelines. This game is great. It's simple, generic, and fun. It has a variety of enemies that have different abilities.Hell, it even has boss fights. This game isn't short either. I currently have 0.8 hours into it and I'm still not finished with it.The game's worth a buy. This game is easily worth $5, 50 cents is a steal deal!. Poor man's Doom 3. It feels like that way first but that's not even comparable with Doom 3, but you got the point. I will try to be not harsh since it's a dirt cheap game but...First of all it's low budget, kind of ugly and not even scary "horror FPS". Gameplay is based on -mostly- linear levels and monster waves. Story is nearly non-existent and cliché (year is 20XX and a virus bla bla). You have to kill all monsters to advance to next checkpoint. Game saves your game automatically when you reach a checkpoint.Short pros/cons list:Pros:+ Shotgun is satisfying+ Since the game is really simple, it make you keep playing a little longer+ Monsters aren't creepy but make you laugh (i'm serious, especially that headless weirdos)Cons:- Framerate issues (Unity)- Sound effects, especially footsteps on metal surfaces- Shotgun's secondary fire doesn't work- Wave system- Level design isn't good and levels consist of same, cramped areasWhile we're purchasing that kind of cheap titles, we don't expect many things. Yet i believe that we have to write reasonable things with their both strong and weak sides.Try Putrefaction (while discounted) if you're extremely bored but don't expect a decent, short first person shooter experience.. Not that bad, considered that you will most probably get this one as a coupon and so, at 0,10€.The game itself is a classic first-person shooter, which takes many ideas and elements from our '90s games of this kind.I'm not a big fan of this genres, but if the games are short and run fast and smooth I can enjoy them all.. I wanna have no boundaries at all when it comes to gaming, although of course I've got my favourites :)There's lots of splatter and blood out here, although there isn't a great variety of enemies (but yeah, of weapons it's definitely good), and it took me some hours to get used to the mechanisms and mostly to get new weapons and to manage to kill everything xDOf course there's also the survival mode, besides of the normal campaign one.The story isn't that good, but as I said it's an indie game and it's a shooter so, who cares? The world gets infected, people transform into monsters and you're part of a squad that has to exterminate them, that's all. And for 0,10€, it's good xDI have to say as a sidenote that I think I enjoyed this game even because it reminded me a lot (obviously in a less polished way) of those games like Duke Nukem or Quake or I don't even remember 'cos I don't play them since the '90s. Back then, we used to play everything 'cos here in Europe we had to play what we were given, so we played everything from Mario to Mortal Kombat to JRPGs and whatever, and many shooters too. And Tomb Raider also. And this game reminded me a lot of those old shooters on our Windows98 PCs. So if you have this on discount and if you like to enter rooms and shoot enemies without thinking of anything else, this is a nice Unity-based title.. i could give this game a recommend if it was in early access but its noti came for an "old school shooter" here is what that means to meX-a non regenerating health system (check)X-carry all your weapons at once (check)X-sprawling non linear levels (no) the levels do that annoying thing where they put up arbitrary forcefeilds when its time for some enemies to spawn, a true oldschool shooter does not spawn enemies (often) they should ALREADY BE THERE, unfrotunately in this game they just pop in in hordes which is no funX-secrets (no, atleast that i could find anyway)X-persistent corpses (no) this one is so underrated but so fundamental to the oldschool experience, it adds to much immersion to turn around and see all the things you killed.....sadly this game cant handle having the corpses left behind and they dissapear fast, and even then it chugs framewise, and the blood effect left behidn by every enemy (which also fades) is terribleand its filled with bugs, i beat one level by walking through a wall that an enemy was supposed to burst through, but i did it before he spawned and the wall was only cosmeticmake a REAL oldschool game devs, then i will shower you with frankly embarassing amounts of cash. For what it is I had loads of fun. Bought it on sale for $0.50 and the 2.5 hour campaign was pretty enjoyable. A decent little shooter at a great price that makes me go out and buy the sequels. Recommended, for this price don't except AAA quality, but just have fun!
